One of the top chefs in South Africa, David Higgs has over two decades of experience in the food industry under his belt. David had started his career in Cape Town but recently relocated to Johannesburg. He is the former Head Chef at Rust en Vrede restaurant in Stellenbosch, where he contributed to the 2010 winning of three major awards (Restaurant of the Year, Chef of the Year and the Service Excellence award) for the establishment. He was a member of the South African national Culinary Team and has represented South Africa at the Culinary Olympics. After that David took the position of the Executive Chef at the Saxon Boutique Hotel in Johannesburg. He ran the Five Hundred fine dining restaurant as well as the brasserie-style restaurant Qunu. In July this year David together with restaurateur Gary Kyriacou is opening Marble, a new live-fire restaurant. David is also the founder of Food Cycle, a non-profit organisation aiming to educate underprivileged youth about the importance of nutrition. An avid cyclist himself, David started the Adopt a Rider apprentice program.Any questions?
